A design that connects: Flexicap and EV Cabinet as one
To create a coherent user experience, Goomyx designed a colour palette that matches Flexicap, a previously developed project with the Lemcko research group. This approach ensures that both tools reinforce each other and visually unify, while still maintaining their own identity. While Lemcko focused on algorithm and back-end development, Goomyx took care of front-end development and the deployment process.
From prototype to performance
We built the tool based on prototypes, focusing on a smooth and responsive user experience, even at slower internet speeds. By optimising the loading process, the page remains stable, so users do not have to deal with annoying skips during use.
EV-Cabinet builds on Flexicap's infrastructure, which allowed us to reuse existing features such as forms for an efficient workflow. The tool provides a structured input method that allows companies to add information about their charging fleet, resulting in a customised simulation supported by data visualisations.
Seamless deployment and data management via Azure
For EV-Cabinet's implementation, we ensured robust deployment of both the front-end and back-end via Azure Web Apps and Container Apps. This solution ensures that the simulation tool keeps running smoothly, regardless of the load. Data files (CSVs) are securely managed via Azure Blob Storage, providing an efficient and secure way to process and analyse the data.
Knowledge transfer and internal management
After taking over the management of Flexicap, which was previously handled by another specialist, we streamlined both deployment methods. After a short training course, researchers from the Lemcko research group can independently carry out the deployment of their own back-end, giving them more flexibility and control over their project.
Realistic simulations and data-driven decisions for sustainable charging infrastructure
EV-Cabinet enables companies to create realistic simulations for their charging park projects, supported by the scientific expertise of UGent's Lemcko research group. The integration with Flexicap also allows companies to include the impact of solar panels and other energy sources in their simulations, helping them make more sustainable decisions.
